On January 15th, a group of volunteers, including around two dozen fifth-graders, helped the non-profit SisterWe undertake a urban beautification project in historic downtown San Bernardino. A hydroponics system will be installed through the felt planters and then succulents and plants will be placed in the living wall garden. A local artist and business owner is also painting a mural to further enhance the area.

BNSF and the Arbor Day Foundation supported the project, along with a pocket park in nearby Muscoy, where there are plans for 20 raised-bed family garden plots, a farmer’s market, movie nights and other family activities throughout the year. Read more in the San Bernardino Sun
