BNSF is dedicated to maximizing opportunities in the High Desert through our transformative $1.5 billion Barstow International Gateway (BIG) project. Since the project’s announcement, we have been actively engaging with local communities to understand their priorities for the future and how the new intermodal rail facility can help support those goals. Through partnerships with the City of Barstow and the Barstow Chamber of Commerce, we have hosted over a dozen workshops since November, bringing together stakeholders to share their valuable insights.
Then, in April, BNSF co-hosted a larger community meeting at Barstow Community College that drew more than 300 attendees to learn more about the project and what it will mean for the city and the region. BNSF looks forward to continuing the dialogue with the Barstow community as the planning for this transformative project moves ahead.
