BNSF has officially closed its 7,000th railroad crossing, as part of our ongoing work to improve safety across the network. The crossing, located on McKinley Street in Corona, sits along the busy Southern Transcon route and was once among the area’s most challenging locations for collisions and trespassing.

“Now that the bridge is operational, drivers save hours of wait time every day,” says Jim Steiner, former Corona mayor and current council member. “Train horns at the intersection are a thing of the past, and traffic on McKinley Street is moving more smoothly.”

At BNSF, we believe the safest crossing is a closed crossing. Through continued partnerships with local communities, we’re building infrastructure that reduces risk and allows people to move more efficiently, without crossing active tracks.
